Brewing news Germany: There is no current plan for Carlsberg’s closures in Deutschland

The Carlsberg Deutschland Group wants to ensure the survival of all its breweries by greater capacity utilisation, more efficient integration and a strengthening of earnings, Holsten posted on September 28. “There is no current plan to close one of our breweries in Germany”, said Nils S. Andersen, CEO of Carlsberg Breweries A/S.

Wolfgang Burgard, CEO of Carlsberg Deutschland, added “We have been on the right track since the beginning of 2004 and we want to resolutely follow this route. The extremely successful Mecklenburgische Brauerei Lübz will expand its sales area further and for both of the other breweries named as being threatened by closure, there are also concrete plans to strengthen their market position”.

Several parts of the German media published on Tuesday, that three out of five breweries which since April 2004 belong to the Carlsberg Group are to be closed.

They referred to an interview with the CEO of Carlsberg Breweries A/S, which appeared in the Danish financial newspaper “Børsen”.
